Follow-up of 56 MB leprosy patients, new detected in 11 provinces in the Central region and Highlands of Vietnam, from Apr 2015 to Jun 2016, treated with MDT for 12 months, quantitative monitoring of molecular markers that related to viability of Mycobacterium leprae such as RLEP-DNA, 16S rRNA and hsp18 gene mRNA, evaluating the changing during treatment to determine the relationship between the above indicators changes with the risk of current and situation of prolonged, recurrent of the leprosy reactions, to evaluate the effect of leprosy treatment. The results showed that the amount of 16S rRNA and mRNA hsp18 gene of M. leprae may increase or decrease at some point in the course of treatment irrespective of the amount of RLEP-DNA.
