tuần (OR=2,8; 95%CI: 1,5-5,4), uống sữa bò < 3 lần/tuần (OR=2,3; 95%CI: 1,2-4,2), uống nước ngọt ≥ 1
lần/tuần (OR=2,2; 95%CI:1,1-4,2); Trẻ hay ăn vặt có nguy cơ mắc HCCH cao hơn 2,6 lần (OR=2,6; 95%CI:
1,4-4,8). Trẻ thừa cân-béo phì có nguy cơ mắc HCCH khi có thời gian học > 10 giờ/ngày (OR=3,1; 95%CI:
1,5-6,6), tần suất chơi thể thao < 3 lần/tuần (OR=3,1; 95%CI: 1,5-6,4); tham gia làm việc nhà < 3 ngày/
tuần (OR=4,2; 95%CI: 2,2-8,2); xem tivi ≥ 60 phút/ngày (OR=2,3; 95%CI: 1,1-4,7); sử dụng máy vi tính ≥
60 phút/ngày (OR=2,9; 95%CI: 1,5-5,6); ngủ < 8 giờ/ngày (OR=2,3; 95%CI: 1,2 - 4,3).
Summary:
A descriptive cross - sectional study with analysis was conducted on 330 obese-overweight children in Dong Da and Phuong Mai junior high schools of Dong Da district, Hanoi to explorechildren’s eating habits and physical activities related to the metabolic syndrome. Subjects were students aged 11-15 years, who were identified overweight-obese according to WHO standard 2007. Their weight, height, waist circumference and blood pressure (BP) were collected. Their fasting blood samples were taken to quantify plasma glucose, HDL-C, and triglycerides. Pre-tested structure questionnaireswere used to interview children and their parents. Results showed that the consumption frequency of some foods was related to metabolic syndrome such as consumption of instant noodle over 3 times/week (OR=2.8; 95%CI: 1.5-5.4), consumption of cow milk less than 3 times/week (OR=2.3; 95%CI: 1.2-4.2), consumption of soft drinks more than 1 times/week (OR=2.2; 95%CI:1.1-4.2); eating snacks (OR=2.6; 95%CI: 1.4-4.8). Overweight-obese children were more likely to be at risk of metabolic syndrome when the time for sitting was over 10 hours/day(OR=3.1; 95%CI: 1.5-6.6), playing sports less than 3 times / week (OR = 3.11); participating in home chores less than 3 days/week (OR=3.1; 95%CI: 1.5-6.4); watching TV ≥ 60 mins/day (OR=2.3; 95%CI: 1.1-4.7); using computers ≥ 60 mins/day (OR=2.9; 95%CI: 1.5-5.6); sleeping less than 8 hours/day (OR=2.3; 95%CI:1.2-4.3). Conclusion: The frequency of food consumption, junk food habits, more sitting time, less sport and home chore time, more using of computer and watching television were common factors related to the metabolic syndrome in obese - overweight children.
