Summary:
Leptospirosis is a disease transmitted from
animals to humans in circulation over the world.
Annually, there are approximately 500,000 peo-ple infected in the world, especially the popularity
in the tropical and subtropical countries, including
both the rural and urban. Currently, Vietnam has
still been located in the arear of high epidemiology
of the Leptospirosis. To describe the trend and dis-tribution of Leptospira cases over time and space
in Vietnam in 10 years of research. The design of
descriptive epidemiological study using the retro-spective data was implemented on the total num-ber of 369 cases of Leptospira in Vietnam from
2002-2011. The total number of cases recorded in
Vietnam for the period 2002-2011 were 369 cases
and no deaths found. The average rate of Leptospi-ra in 10 years of research was 0.05 cases/100,000
people/year in which the highest rate was 0.25
cases/100,000 people/year in the year of 2004. The
North West and North Central were two regions fo-cusing the majority of Leptospira cases compared
to others. During the period from 2002 to 2011,
Leptospirosis tended to decrease over years, from
37 cases in 2002 to 6 cases in 2011. Additionally,
the number of cases was higher in the months of
summer, with the figure showing 55 cases in
May, 69 cases in July and 123 cases in August.
